As you can tell (by this being late, again – though less late than last month!), things are still a little tricky over here.
I have been working on my burnout, but burnout is innately something you need to … not work at? I have a book on learning how to relax (Rest: why you get more done when you work less) that I’m reading, and that does, slowly, seem to be helping. But man, I gotta learn how to relax.
On the bright side, the novella thing I mentioned last month is starting to roll into motion.
The rough plan looks like spending two weeks planning, four weeks writing, two weeks revising, and hopefully that will result in a novella. (Or possibly a novellette?) After that, a week off, and then repeat it to see if I can do it twice.
So far, so good – things are moving relatively slowly but I have some progress on the first attempt, which I will avoid giving too many details on to avoid disappointment if this experiment doesn’t work out.
In very brief, it involves exploring a new production line of clones with their own woes, and also some musing over the nature of what drives artists. The working title is shaky but might wind up being ‘Vermin Vandal Veritas’, or maybe ‘Visage of a Vermin Vandal’. In my planning notes I just have it down as ‘VVV’.
The world is pretty rough at the moment. I am having to keep my head down and avoid looking too closely at the news, just to avoid having my blood pressure spike high enough to make me explode, but rest assured. If you’re having trouble coping? You’re not alone, and it’s not unnatural.
As ever, thank you for keeping up with me and my efforts – knowing I’m not alone is a huge boost, so. Thank you for your support, and hopefully I’ll be reporting back with more news about novellas next month.
