From last month’s mentions – managed to nail down the ‘narrative’ outline, now, finally, able to tackle the novella/short story I wanted to writing dealing with the opening of Quicker than Blood.
This ‘writing season’, running through to September, is intended to be a mix of flexible and planned. I have some goals lined up – finalize the shorts/novellas I got into last season, ideally get QtB happening again, although I might convert the now unused material I’ve already written into a sort of mini-adventure heist… Broadly speaking, though, my planning involves a lot of pencil and post-it notes. The idea being to have a clear idea of what I’m doing while retaining some flexibility to bend the exact schedule – a thing that I tripped over last season.
Productivity is… getting better? I don’t want to say miracles are in progress, yet, but hours-at-keyboard, as a metric, is starting to improve significantly, and I am hoping to start seeing if that can translate to words-written-of-prose.
With a little luck, if I have made my plans correctly and due to the absurd way I arrange my work-schedule using complete weeks, I might well manage to take the ‘fifth’ week of this month off. (By my idiosyncratic methodology, June 30th to the 4th of July is the last week of June.) I have been catching up on some for-pleasure reading, so hope to spend this week off doing that. I can thoroughly recommend Joe Abercrombie’s the Devils, which I finished recently, though!
In the meanwhile, we’ll see how things turn out, I’ll update you next time, and, as ever, thank you so much for your interest and support!
