April’s March onwards.

So, where am I, two weeks-ish on from last time?

Quite a lot more progress on re-plotting Quicker than Blood – some of the major plot issues I had, previously, seem to have been solved, and more scenes and elements are feeling integral to the plot rather than like general asides.

Currently I’m pushing that through the usual process I use – going from the loose notes I mentioned last time to a structured ‘rough’ outline, which is mostly about the events that occur, then moving to a ‘narrative’ outline, which is much more about how those events are presented to an audience. Making notes is the ‘looking for a new car’ part of the process, this is kicking the tires and listening to the engine before cutting a cheque.

It’s coming up on the end of the current writing ‘season’ I started in January, and while I knew it wasn’t going to go exactly how I planned… I will say it has gone relatively well. I’m hoping that a search for some better tools (psychological, emotional, and practical) will lead to better ways to get me closer to my goals. I’ve always struggled with a rush-and-crash workaholism style, and it has never given me the results I wanted from it.

I am not fully sure what I want to try with the next season, but getting in some time to finish and refine the material I produced these past months is very, very high on the agenda.

As always, thank you all for your support – whether a Patreon patron or a regular fan or just someone interested in my work, you’re giving me the opportunity to do what I love doing, and it means so much more than I can say.
